A trying day for the Willie Mullins yard, which saw Avant Tout and Vautour sustain fatal injuries, ended on the right note as their Good Thyne Tara triumphed in the concluding Christmas Party Race Day December 11th Mares (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race in Cork.
Owner, Nigel King, Mullins, and his son Patrick, were also on the mark in this event last year courtesy of Screaming Rose and here the winning rider didn't have to exert himself to any degree as 4/9 chance Good Thyne Tara cruised to a seven and a half length win over Sense Of Urgency
"She's a nice big mare, a gorgeous type, and she'll jump a fence no problem. I think good ground will see her at her best and her form was very strong from last winter," reflected Patrick Mullins in the aftermath.
"To me she's a black-type mare and while there's a black-type mares' bumper at Navan, maybe it's time to get cracking over hurdles with her."
