Swan and Casey seen to good effect
Charlie Swan was enjoying a good afternoon when his two horses Boulavogue and Dr Willie Martin battled out the finish of The Kerry Spring Water Hurdle.
Boulavogue the 11/10 favourite the eventual winner with David Casey doing the steering for owner Noel O'Flaherty led from 5 out and was strongly pressed approaching two out but stayed on well to hold off stable mate Dr Willie Martin with Denis Hogan in the saddle by 1 ? lengths.
Charlie Swan said afterwards, "He was second in this race last year and has gone close good few times but is as genuine as they come. We probably won't see the best of him till he goes over 2 ? to 3 miles. We'll go chasing with him now I've schooled him myself and he jumps well."
