Tuam owner Paul Mullins and Gort-based trainer Norman Lee won't forget the Supermac's Handicap Hurdle at Ballinrobe in a hurry, as they had the first two home, the Adam O'Neill-partnered Supreme Vic seeing off Blackandamber Vic (Jack Kennedy) by a length and a half.
Supreme Vic, a nine-year-old daughter of Old Vic, has a brilliant record at the Mayo venue, which now stands at three wins, two second placings and a fourth (of sixteen) and here she was adding to the gains achieved with her win at Gowran on June 20th.
Though Blackandamber Vic closed her down close home, Supreme Vic was always going to hold on.
"It was hard to pick which one might win and we're just delighted that they both ran so well," said Lee.
"The little filly stayed on great and hopefully if the owner is happy to go we'll go to Galway late in the week with both.
"They are two grand fun fillies. They're no stars but they're our stars.
"We're very proud of them both. I didn't back either of them as I couldn't split them. There was two stone between them but first and second is kind of what you'd be dreaming might happen.
"It was the first time I ever ran two. I never did it before and didn't want to do it, but we might do it again now!
"The boys gave them great rides. They're two easy fillies to train and hopefully they'll stay right."
