Super Sling made it third time lucky, in the Crowne Plaza Leading Jockey & Trainer Championship Race at Dundalk, and he was well-backed to do so too, finding a starting price of 5/4 from 3/1 this morning.
Wayne Lordan rode the chestnut for Eddie Lynam and he got his mount into full stride in the final quarter mile.
Newcomer, Fairy Foxglove (16/1) made a lovely introduction on the front-end but she couldn't fend off Super Sling who eventually prevailed by a length and a half.
The one that was favourite this morning, Nomoneynohoney (7/4 then out 4/1) was in trouble from a fair way out and she eventually finished last of the five.
Lordan said of the Ranjan Mahtani-owned victor: "He did it well. They went steady enough and he picked up well. I think when he goes up to a mile and a quarter he'll be a better horse.
"He's still a bit babyish and he was entitled to do that – he had two nice runs behind him." (MG & EM)
