Sullane Chief and Conor Walsh teamed up to comprehensively land the prize in the two and a half mile handicap hurdle in Cork.
The pair travelled smoothly to join issue at the second last and forged well ahead before jumping the last. They won by 12 lengths at 16/1.
“He had a good run in Gowran Park the last day, but he’s hard to keep right. Hopefully he’s turned the bend now. He’ll stay handicap hurdling,” trainer Pat O’Connor said. Pals Leg was headed at the second last by Sullane Chief but still had enough to take second at 25/1. He was 10 lengths ahead of More Madness (10/1). Abolitionist completed the placings at 13/2 from 10/1 in the morning.
Sullane Chief was fourth in Gowran Park in a two and a half mile handicap hurdle at the start of October.
