Strong staying Golan Go back to his best
The dour stayer Golan Go returned to his best in division one of the Owenduff Handicap at Wexford, when running out a cosy two length winner for jockey Gary Carroll and trainer Paul Magnier.
The son of Golan was well supported being backed from 6/1 into 4/1 second favourite on the track. Beliar (16/1) who finished second, led entering the straight, but was overtaken inside the last furlong as the winner stayed on.
The well backed Akinspirit was squeezed for room under a furlong out when struggling and finished third.
The winning trainer said afterwards, “I hope the handicapper goes easy on him and he might go to Ballinrobe now on Monday week.”
