The decision to go again quickly with Charlie Stout reaped rewards as he landed his second race in the space of four days in the Silks@DownRoyal Rated Novice Hurdle at Down Royal.
Shane Nolan ’s charge, a narrow winner at Naas on Saturday, was sent to post the 9/4 joint favourite to repeat the dose in the two-mile three-furlong contest today.
Eamonn Corbett chose to hit the lead after four flights on his mount and he stuck on well in the closing stages.
Cadeau De Bresil gave chase but was two-and-three-quarter lengths down at the line while fellow market leader Aretesone was two-and-a-half lengths further back in third.
“He’s improving with every run,” said Nolan.
“We were hopeful coming here today. It’s not ideal coming back after three or four days but he’s tough.
“He’s tough and hardy and I didn’t think he had much of a race the other day. It’s more that he was done for toe then and was staying on strongly at the line.
“They were going no gallop so Eamonn decided to let him roll along in front today. He stays well, he will stay a lot further, and he doesn’t mind that ground.
“We’ll find something for him again in three or four weeks time.”
