Her half-brother Bahrain Storm has won twelve races and at just five years of age Storm Away is now up to three. There should be plenty more good days ahead too, for the Kalanisi mare, judged on the manner of her victory in the Owenavarragh (Q.R.) Maiden at Wexford.

Paul Power always had Pat Flynn's charge prominent in the chasing group after Rory O'Moore

Once she got there in the straight, Storm Away wasn't long about going on about her business and she needed minimal assistance from Paul Power up top to beat Moon Dice (encouraging from the 2011 Galway Hurdle hero) by three and a half lengths.

Pat Flynn said: "We plan on going hurdling with her, but we might aim her at the amateur handicap at Galway. That would be a race for her as she is very classy.

"She is nice mare and her brother won the Galway Hurdle (Bahrain Storm). We will have to try and win a maiden hurdle with her as well. She prefers better ground and she did it well today."

Mr R.P. McNamara, rider of Marty's Magic trained by D. K. Weld, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount met with interference before the turn into the straight and ran on one-paced in the closing stages.
