There was a terrific tussle to round off proceedings at Dundalk as Friday night action returned on the polytrack. Temasek Star (Shane Foley) edged out Udogo (Donnacha O'Brien) by a head in the finale, the [email protected] Handicap.
The principals left Noble Aussie four and three parts of a length back in third and it was only very close to the line that Temasek Star could be called the winner having tracked the leaders throughout the extended ten furlong trip.
"It's great as his owner George Chor has come all the way from Singapore to see a couple of horses run this weekend and also go to Goffs sales next week," disclosed winning trainer Michael Halford.
"It's terrific the horse has won when he's travelled all that way and he also had a horse run earlier (Rezeki) with a lot of promise.
"We might keep him here now as he seems to like it. He's very genuine and Shane gave him a great ride."
C.P. Hoban, rider of Miss Mountcharles trained by John C. McConnell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung badly in the straight.
K.J. Leonard, rider of Miniature Hero trained by John C. McConnell, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount hung left in the straight.
