Stakers puts rivals to sword
The Christy Roche trained Stakers caused a 14/1 upset to win the Corrib Oil Handicap Chase at Ballinrobe today, winning for owner J.P.McManus and jockey Mark Walsh.
Afterwards Roche was represented by McManus’ Racing Manager Frank Berry who said “Stakers has been a fairly disappointing horse and has had a few problems.”
“He was quite keen at Roscommon and we decided to hold him up today. Mark said he picked up we’ll though and hopefully he can pick up another one of those handicaps again now.”
