Spirit to the fore in Dundalk
The concluding race on this evening’s card in Dundalk, the Guinness Handicap was won by the Michael Butler trained Akinspirit (11/2) in the hands of Billy Lee.
The progressive bay gelding notched up his fourth win of the year having previously won a maiden hurdle in Clonmel and two flat handicaps in Bellewstown and Wexford respectively.
Lee produced his mount to challenge from over a furlong and a half out and kept on well to lead inside the final furlong for a length and a quarter win over the 3/1jfav Sinntaran The other 3/1jfav Luttrell Lady finished a head back in third.
