Soldier Gets Jordan off the Mark
Following the first time win for Gerard Mullins in the 7.15, Brian Jordan was another trainer who will remember this meeting with fondness as he sent out his initial winner when The Tin Soldier made all in the Hyundai Sonata Novice Chase.
Eddie Power rode the 25/1 shot and he kept going really well up the straight to see off fellow outsider, Kong by four and a half lengths. Toby Jug stayed on for third but he was never going to get there whilst even money favourite, Red Vinto disappointed in fourth. Unfortunately Lord Lansdown was a fatality at the fourth.
Jordan said: "I train near Kilmore Quay and I've had my licence since Christmas. That's my first winner on the race track. This is the second horse I've run and he won a point-to-point in Lingstown on rock hard ground and he hasn't got it since. He jumped like a stag tonight, he is a brilliant jumper."
