Social Society sprung a 50/1 shock in the Gowran Park Golf Spring Team Event 2009 Maiden Hurdle to credit trainer, Dot Love and rider Shay Barry with a welcome winner.

The daughter of Moscow Society had shown bits and pieces of form in her six runs before but she obviously improved for the step-up in trip and better ground, leading before the last and going on to defeat Failte Go Deo by three lengths.

Mullingar-based Love said: "We knew she was fit and well. The better ground helped and he gave her a hell of a ride." (EM)
