Mr Snagsby was all the rage in the Sharon Shannon Big Band Handicap at Leopardstown but was all out to land the spoils.
The Eddie Lynam-trained gelding was as big as 5/1 this morning but was well-supported and returned 6/4 favourite.
Wayne Lordan drove his mount into the lead over a furlong from home but he was all out at the line to hold the fast-finishing Landau by half a length.
The winner had been placed on his last two visits to the track.
“It's good to get. I thought he'd win off 66 but it was looking like he wouldn't for a while,” said Lynam.
“It's nice to get a winner for Luke (McMahon), it's been a while. I've no plans really – that was the plan.
I think he wants good fast ground. I could see him going jumping at some point.”
