Smullen consolidates Championship lead
Jockey Pat Smullen maintains a lead of five at the head of the Jockeys' Championship with a win on Dermot Weld's Kalinka Malinka in the ABB/YEC Handicap at Dundalk tonight.
Smullen's nearest pursuer in the Championship challenge, Fran Berry, earlier partnered a double but Smullen's winner means he currently leads Berry 86-81, with Johnny Murtagh on 79.
Cashmans Bookmakers cut Smullen to 1/6 (from 1/5) and Berry to 9/2 (from 5/1) while also pushing Murtagh to 12/1 (from 8/1) for the Jockeys Championship.
There are four Dundalk meetings left in the season which ends on December 5th.
