Pat Smullen completed a Dundalk double when Leliani had little trouble in justifying odds-on favouritism in the finale at the Dowdallshill venue.
Dermot Weld trains Leliani for the Aga Khan whilst Smullen’s earlier win had been for Harry Rogers on Giant's Quest
Once Leliani (4/7) had got by his only serious market rival, Got To Dream (5/2), early in the straight, it was a matter of how far and the Mr Greeley chestnut eventually prevailed by six and a half lengths in this Hibernia Steel Ltd Maiden.
Smullen remarked: "He made hard work of it. Today was his big day and he'll maybe get even further (this was a mile and a half).
"It was a great opportunity for him in a very weak race."
C.D. Hayes, rider of Got To Dream (GB), trained by Kevin Prendergast, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount hung to the right in the straight.
