Sling battles well for Supple
Castle Bar Sling battled well to take the ‘Paul Brady’ Stillorgan Handicap by the narrowest of margins under a strong ride by Willie Supple.
Thomand O’Mara trains the winner for owner Bart Murphy who is from Golden in County Tipperary but spends a big part of his time in San Francisco and it was Diesis gelding first run for his new owner.
Supple had his mount in front early in the straight, the pair were joined by Camira inside the final furlong.
The American-bred responded well to pressure to get his head in front and score by a short head.
Winning trainer O’Mara said afterwards: “It’s his first run for his new owner Bart Murphy.”
“He’ll go for the Topaz Mile EBF Handicap in Galway next and he’d love a nice drop of rain.”
