Skyace's trainer 'Shark' Hanlon and Janidil's jockey Jody McGarvey combined for further success at Wexford today as The Cool Dude landed the concluding Traynor's Of Wexford Paint Handicap Chase for the Grade 1 winning pair.
Hanlon and McGarvey combined for fairytale top-level success with ex-Willie Mullins trained, £600 purchase Skyace at Fairyhouse on Sunday with McGarvey later completing a personal Grade 1-double in the Underwriting Exchange Gold Cup on Mullins' Janidil.
The Cool Dude, today sporting black cheek-pieces, raced mid-field, improved to lead after the second last and scored a 5.5L win over Enduring Love
Hanlon was at Aintree with an unplaced runner yesterday and after today's win McGarvey stated “I’d say a combination of the trip and the ground (helped). He’s been running on soft ground and was just getting stuck in it and he really is a good ground horse.
“In such a low grade on good ground and he jumps so well — it all came together for him today.
“I’d a bit of an anxious moment at the last when he had a bit of a look at something but he’s done it well. He’s found his own level now and if he can stay in that grade he’ll be competitive again.”
