Six-Up for Thornton
Andrew Thornton rode his first winner on Arondo at Wexford on July 11th and he is quickly rising the ranks as he secured his sixth winner on Lucky Spring in the Waterford & Tramore Directors Handicap Hurdle at Tramore this evening.
Four of these have been for Omagh trainer, Mervyn Torrens. They teamed up with Dancera at Ballinrobe and Canulos at Downpatrick. Arondo won again for the Meath man back at Bettyville on July 25th.
Thornton had his first success for a yard other than Torrens' when Lucky At Last scored for Pat Martin at Bellewstown towards the end of August. It was for the same outfit that he steered Lucky Spring to an effortless all-the-way thirteen length win here. (EM)
