Sirgarfield bowls them out at Dundalk
Aidan O'Brien's Sirgarfieldsobers a brother to Derby winner Authorized, shed his maiden tag at Dundalk tonight, notching up a 79th win of the season for jockey Johnny Murtagh in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden.
The son of Montjeu, unsuccessful in two previous outings, battled well when asked to quicken in the straight, eventually staying on to deny fast-finishing Pozyc by a length and a quarter.
O'Brien was absent but Murtagh did mention "Sirgarfieldsobers has learned a lot in his runs and will make a nice middle distance horse next year - he has the right attitude and pedigree."
