Fresh from a Chepstow treble yesterday Robbie Power returned to home soil to win the I.N.H. Stallion Owners EBF Rated Novice Hurdle on the Jessica Harrington-trained Silver Sheen at Thurles.
A point-to-point winner in his time with Paul Cashman, Silver Sheen is really on the upgrade, following up on a Wexford win from October 28th.
Owner John Turner has enjoyed many big successes with his ‘Jaytee’ greyhounds, and on the equine front the likes of Buildmeupbuttercup and Heaven Help Us having been showing up well for the English-based man in recent times.
Never too far away going up to this extended two and three quarter miler, Silver Sheen (4/1 into 3/1) quickly warded off the danger posed by Allez Dance in the straight.
The Sulamani gelding was six and a half lengths up at the line.
"We always thought he was a nice horse and the soft ground really helps him," said Mrs Harrington's daughter Kate.
"I bought him myself for GBP30,000 for John Turner last February and he is from the family of Moscow (Flyer). The first horse John had with Willie Mullins had Hurricane Fly in the page and he said we'll buy the one with Moscow (Flyer) in the page.
"We'll try and find another race like that next before we let him loose into any higher company but he couldn't have done it better there.
"It's nice to get a winner for John Turner - he has a nice few horses in England and with Willie (Mullins) and this is the first horse we've had for him."
