The well-backed Show And Go pounced late to land the spoils in the 2m2f handicap hurdle at Downpatrick. An Capall Mor looked set to give Gordon Elliott and Paul Carberry a double on the card when kicking on after the second last.
He started to tire up the hill, however, and was grabbed in the dying strides by the Henry de Bromhead-trained gelding.
The 5/2 favourite (5/1 this morning) recorded a hard fought half-length victory under Andrew Lynch who said afterwards:-
"He has a lot to learn with his jumping, he jumps a bit high. He's getting worse with racing!
"Ideally he wants a bit further. I thought once I got him going he might pick them up. I thought he had a bit left the way he was jumping."
