Shifa gets it right
French import Shifa ended a run of placed efforts when battling to success in the Goresbridge Mares Maiden Hurdle at Gowran Park.
Ruby Walsh had the 11/10 favourite in the van throughout and she hit the front before the third last. Jeunopse threw down a strong challenge at the final flight but couldn't find a way past, going down by a length.
"That's not before time and we think she might only be coming to herself now," said trainer Willie Mullins.
"Ideally she wants more of a trip and fences. We might try and win another hurdle with her and she'll make a nice novice chaser next season."
