Sherney Lands Gamble
Sherney shrugged off the fact that he'd been out of action for 626 days, with a comfortable success in the Aer Arann (Q.R.) Maiden Hurdle for Charles Byrnes, and in the process he provided his rider, John O'Connor, with a first success.
The son of Shernazar was a 16/1 chance in the morning and was backed from 8/1 into 9/2 on track before drifting back to 7/1 in the face of support for Clonsilla Affairs (4s into 2s). The last-named could only finish third as Posthouse Lady chased home Sherney at a distance of seven lengths. (EM)
