Owners The Long Wait Partnership had their third second placer of the day when Psyche was collared late on by Blue Shadow in the BetVictor Casino Handicap.
‘Long Wait’ were runner-up in the opener on this card with another Jessica Harrington runner, Lay It Out whilst they had a silver medallist over at Cheltenham in the afternoon too.
Under the Teme Valley 2 banner over there, the maroon and yellow silks were narrowly defeated in the finale, as One True King failed by a head to Lively Citizen.
Andy Oliver has care of Blue Shadow for Paul Hardy and Conor Hoban got him up to win half a length.
“That was great. He's a horse that showed a bit early, had a bit of a setback mid-season, came back with a nice run last time and delivered there today,” said Oliver.
“It was a lovely ride by Conor to produce him to collar them near the line.
“Hopefully there is more improvement in him, he looks like a horse that should, and he might even get a bit further.
“He's for a very nice owner who has been very patient with him so he thoroughly deserves it.”
The Stewards fined J. S. Bolger, trainer, €65 for fitting the incorrect headgear to Bold Approach prior to entering the parade ring.
The Stewards interviewed J.A. Powell, rider of Dalileo concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found J. A. Powell in breach of Regulation 10.3.b, the unnecessary hitting of a horse after its chance of winning or being place is clearly gone. Having considered J. A. Powell's record in this regard the Stewards cautioned him on this occasion.
The Stewards interviewed H. J. Horgan, rider of Bluebeard's Castle (USA), concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards found H. J. Horgan in breach of regulation 10.3.g, excessive frequency. Having considered H. J. Horgan's record in this regard the Stewards suspended H. J. Horgan for two racedays.
