Shabra Charity and Ryan Treacy provided a boost to Oliver Brady when fending off Coldstonesober by a head in the two and a half mile handicap chase at Down Royal.
“Oliver was in hospital for five weeks and was only out a week and a half before he went in again last night,” his assistant trainer Anthony McCann said.
“This mare is entered at Clonmel on Thursday and if the ground is good to firm she’ll go there. She’s a serious honest mare and she absolutely loves that ground.”
She tracked the leaders in third before coming through to head proceedings jumping the second last. Although Coldstonesober joined her at the last, she kept on for the narrow victory at 7/1. The runner-up was returned at 5/1. Nearest The Pin the 5/2 favourite, was always in rear and came home fifth.
The eight-runner field was depleted by two non runners – Raajih (stiff) and Hidden Future (veterinary advice).
