Breakeven (15/8) made all in the Tote Pays You More At tote.ie Beginners Chase to complete a 22/1 double for Sean O’Keeffe.
There were three significant non-runners and the dual point-to-point winner capitalised on a good opportunity, warming to his jumping after being less than fluent early on.
The scopey son of Scorpion went away from his pursuers after the final two fences in the dip and his rider, whose earlier winner was Tullyhogue Fort didn’t have to get serious with him as he beat the 13/8 favourite Rightplacerightime by two and a quarter lengths.
Winning trainer Tom Mullins said: "We were coming up here to get a run and maybe finish third or fourth behind some of those other horses and we ended up being the favourite.
“He got the job done there without being too spectacular I thought. He jumped well, of course he was a point-to-pointer so that was a big help.
“We'll potter away and he could maybe come back here next year for the festival.
“We could keep him on the go up to Christmas and he'd have a break then as he's not in love with the heavy stuff.”
