Scope To Improve came from last to first in the bumper at Naas to mark himself out as a smart sort.

He made his 'track' debut for Henry de Bromhead having won a Necarne point-to-point by a wide margin in May for Patrick Turley.

His big white face was noted making stylish headway approaching the final quarter of a mile and the 10/3 favourite was switched to the inner by John Gleeson to lead a furlong and a-half down.

He asserted inside the final furlong and ran on well to deliver by three and a-quarter lengths from Ifallgoeswell (9/2). Romany Brown completed the placings in third at 7/2.

Stable representative Robbie Power said: “That was very impressive. He settled really well, which was important.

“John gave him a lovely ride, he crept away on him. He showed plenty of boot in the straight, he got there very easily.

“I'm delighted for Paddy and Mary (Hale), he's a nice horse to look forward to.

“He wanted to get him to relax today and (he) relaxed very well, he did the job right. John said when he gave him a squeeze, he quickened up pretty rapidly.

“He said if he had known him a bit better, he would have waited a bit longer - he got there a bit soon. When he got there, he put his head down and galloped all the way to the line.

"There is plenty to look forward to.”
