Schoolboy Error followed up a course and distance win last month by taking the Dundalk Stadium — Light Up Your Night Handicap.
The five-year-old gelding again showed his liking for this mile and a half trip when coming through strongly inside the final furlong to get the better of Dixie Highway Duke Of Waspington was sent off the 9/4 favourite but the front-runner could find no extra from early in the straight eventually finishing seventh.
Chris Hayes produced Schoolboy Error with a well-timed challenge, and the Shane Nolan-trained 9/2 shot was on top at the line.
The winning margin was a length, with Oromo a length and a half further away in third.
Nolan said, “Chris gave him a great ride. He did it well, settled well and finished out really well. The last day he was very keen and we thought if he settled better today the 3lb extra wouldn't make much difference to him.
“Hopefully he'll do the same again in a similar type of grade. He'll stay here until the ground dries up because he wants good ground.”
