Savannah Storm justified his short price when running out an easy winner of the ten furlong maiden at Roscommon.

Ger Lyons' charge was sent off the 4/9 favourite following a fine effort to finish third at the Curragh on his debut last month.

Colin Keane asked his mount to challenge two furlongs from home and he soon hit the lead. The Dubawi colt went clear with over a furlong to run and kept on strongly for a 11-length success in the colours of Qatar Racing. Orillion kept on one-paced in the closing stages to secure the runner-up spot.

"I must have one of the worst records with odds-on chances so that's a relief,” said Lyons.

“It's not ideal running back so quick after the Curragh but when you see a maiden cutting up like that you're tempted to run.

"He's by Dubawi so I thought there was a good chance he'd go on the ground.

“He was beside a filly in the stalls and was whinnying and acting a bit colty but hopefully that will go with racing. I'd like to think he will get to Listed level."
