Eamonn O’Connell has enjoyed a good run in recent weeks, and Sunset Sadie provided the Tipperary trainer with a third winner from his last four runners in the CIT Raise And Give Handicap Hurdle at Cork.
The 14-runner event appeared a wide open affair beforehand and quite a few were still in contention in the straight.
However Sunset Sadie quickened impressively to lead after the last under the trainer’s son Eoin, and soon had the race in safe keeping.
The talented 7lb claimer could afford to ease down in the closing stages and still had four and a quarter lengths to spare over fellow 7/1 chance Rock On Lilly with For Pedro a half-length further back in third.
O'Connell said, "My horses are running well and she is tough and improving all the time. I might give her one more run and put her away for the summer - she'll be kept going as long as it's soft.
"She might be better over further and is a full sister to another horse of mine Admiral Brian who also took time."
