Russell's run continues with Limerick hat-trick
Davy Russell, successful on Weapons Amnesty at Cheltenham on Friday, added icing to the icing on his cake at Limerick today, completing a hat-trick of wins, including the featured Irish Stallion Farms EBF Dawn Run Mares Novice Chase on Moskova
Thirty minutes after riding Oligarch Society to win a Listed Hurdle, Russell partnered Moskova to win for trainer Paul Nolan.
Moskova, a daughter of Montjeu, was held up before moving through to lead before the second last, eventually staying on strongly for an easy five and a half lengths win.
Afterwards winning trainer Paul Nolan stated "we decided to ride Moskova on the wide outside because there seems to be a nice strip of ground there."
He added "she'll hopefully improve more now and will definately get three miles. She was a leggy narrow filly earlier in her career but seems much happier over a staying trip. Provided the ground is safe, she'll go to Fairyhouse and Punchestown."
Russell's treble was completed when he provided trainer Pat Fahy with a welcome turn (his first winner since September '08), when steering Washington Lad to an easy seven lengths win in the Charleville Cheese Handicap Chase.
