Russell doubles up
Davy Russell completed a near 22/1 double when giving Le Marquis a confident ride to take the Follow Us On Facebook Handicap Hurdle.
The Tony Martin-trained gelding arrived full of running on the heels of the leaders early in the straight and, after jumping to the front at the second last, the 9yo stretched clear for a facile four lengths success over Masked Phantom
Russell, now on the 34 winner mark for the season, was earlier successful on the Charles Byrnes-trained Knockfierna in the mares novice hurdle.
However his day was spoiled by a four day suspension for mistakenly anticipating a false start in the 2m3f maiden hurdle aboard Crude Robert Power was given the same ban after failing to take part on Stop At Nothing
