Joseph O'Brien's Royal County Down was a very warm favourite at 2/5 for the seven-furlong maiden in Down Royal, but really had to battle to get up by the minimum margin. Recall The Show had led throughout and had the favourite on the stretch in the final furlong, however, Royal County Down really found his stride in the latter stages to get up on the line by a nose.
The runner-up Recall The Show was backed from 10/1 to 7/1. Master Of Kings was half a length further back in third at 12/1.
Jockey Donnacha O'Brien said: "He's a little bit of a slow learner, but once he got the hang of things he stuck his head out front.
"I'd like to think so (plenty of talent there). I'd think there is still plenty of improvement and he'll be a better horse when he goes up to a mile."
