Royal Blood back to winning ways
In-form jockey Eddie O’Connell recorded his tenth winner of the season when Royal Blood landed the Carrick-On-Shannon Handicap Chase for trainer Philip Dempsey.
O’Connell who was prominent for most took up the led four from home, the pair were headed by Keoghs Bar at the second last.
The Flemensfirth gelding responded well to pressure to get back up and regain the lead close home.
Winning trainer Dempsey said afterwards: “He’s tough out and honest but has put in some atrocious runs in the past and has left me scratching my head.”
“I don’t think he’s suited to tight tracks like Wexford and Kilbeggan.”
The 5/1 favourite Old Hall pulled up injured after two flights.
