Rothwell Completes Downpatrick Double
His first winner, Lock Mor Lad tumbled in price and so too was the case with In The Haven (at least 13/8 in the morning into 4/5) who completed a double for Philip Rothwell in race number two, the Irish National Hunt Stallion Owners European Breeders Fund Maiden Hurdle under Davy Russell.
In front away from two out, the Gigginstown House Stud-owned chestnut was all out at the finish to hold off his only serious market rival, Port La Chaine by a neck. Rothwell said of the former John Halley-trained point-to-point winner: "We'll go the handicap road with him, he is entered in one on New Year's Eve at Punchestown." (EM)
