Roevin Star opened his account under rules when taking the 3m1f Boolavogue Handicap Chase at Wexford.
The Vinnie Roe gelding landed a point-to-point on fast ground at Stradbally last year and, following a winter break, showed the benefit of a couple of recent runs to collect here.
Brian O’Connell produced the 15/2 chance to lead soon after the last, and Eoin Doyle's charge kept on well in the closing stages to score by three lengths. William Du Berlais took the runner-up spot, with Naughty Molly finding no extra another half-length away in third.
O'Connell said, "He ran well the last day in Tramore, and in hindsight I probably made a bit too much use of him there.
"He has improved for that run and he has done it well today. He stuck it out well and hopefully there is another couple of those races in him.
"He enjoys that good ground and jumps so well. It's a big help. Eoin's horse are flying at the moment."
