Reveille blitzes his rivals yet again
Royal Reveille continued on a upward curve as he blitzed his rivals for the second time in-a-row, in the first of the Grade 3's at Limerick this afternoon, the Greenmount Park Novice Hurdle.
Ridden by Ruby Walsh for his father Ted, the 6yo gelding made all and asserted from before the straight, staying on strongly to win easily by twelve lengths from Resolute Bay (who drifted from 7/2 this morning out to 8/1 at the off) back in second.
It took the son of Old Vic seven starts over hurdles for him to final lose his maiden tag, which he did at Roscommon in July.
He then followed up on that victory at the Galway Festival winning a Handicap Hurdle in convincing fashion.
The blip in his form came on his next start at Naas when overturned by Blazing Beacon when sent off the 4/9 favourite, with the trip of 2m 3f that day probably not to his liking.
He got back to winning ways last time out in a 2m 6f contest at Navan winning impressively by eight lengths.
Winning trainer Ted Walsh said afterwards: "He did it well and he was entitled to win like that, the handicapper got it right (highest rated in the field at 128).
"He might go for a Grade 3, 3m Novice Hurdle at Cork next (November 6th)."
