Nicole's Milan landed the odds to claim the two-mile five handicap chase at Fairyhouse this afternoon.
Sean Aherne 's gelding was backed from 7/4 this morning and went to post a 9/10 shot.
Davy Russell tracked the leaders before challenging two from home on the seven-year-old. He was asked to lead going to the last and stuck on well on the run-in to see off Flemenstorm by a length-and-three-quarters.
The winner had chased home Goodthynemilan in a beginners chase at Punchestown last time and that rival has scored again since over timber.
“I was under pressure having an odds-on shot here at Fairyhouse but he’s a nice little horse and did it well. He wants a trip and maybe a better gallop,” said Aherne.
“He goes well on the ground and likes this place - horses for courses. He’ll go into handicaps now and is a good little jumper.”
It was a double on the card for Russell following the earlier victory of Pat's Oscar
