Improving Regina Dracones gained a deserved first win at Fairyhouse today as the Tom Gibney trained mare landed the Happy Christmas From Fairyhouse Handicap Hurdle (Div I) under jockey James O'Sullivan.
The five year old mare was in contention when falling at the second-last at Navan in February and returned to action with a runner-up effort at Punchestown last month.
Today Regina Dracones beat Ragin Cajun by six lengths and afterwards Gibney stated “she was entitled to do that after the last day. She was very unlucky on her previous run as she fell when still well in it at Navan.
“She’s a solid filly and it took her a while to get her act together. Kalanisi’s seem to take a lot of time but she’s definitely going in the right direction.”
