Aidan O’Brien’s Sizzling got off the mark at the fifth attempt at Tipperary today, landing the Camas Park Stud Irish EBF (Fillies) Maiden under the trainer’s son Donnacha O’Brien.
The daughter of Galileo had been a beaten favourite, at 6/4, 7/4 and 2/5, on each of her last three starts, with form-figures of '3232', but today rewarded her followers, as the 1/2 favourite, when battling well for a half length win over the Jim Bolger trained newcomer Epaneema
O’Brien later commented “she had some very good runs and we’re delighted with her” and regarding runner-up and newcomer Epaneema’s performance, added “for a filly without experience to run her that close must be a decent filly.”
He added “she (Sizzling) can step up to a mile now and will be a middle distance filly next year, you’d imagine.
“The plan will be to go for a Stakes race next and she’ll appreciate going up in trip.”
