Red Shaheen gets rub of the green
The Paul Deegan trained Red Shaheen under Willie Supple, gained a deserved success on his fifth racecourse outing in the Kill Maiden at Naas this evening.
Red Shaheen, which had finished second, third, fourth and fifth on his previous racecourse runs, eventually got the better of a three-way photo finish to edge out both El Gran Torino and It’s Freezing.
Afterwards Deegan stated “Red Shaheen was helped by the cheek pieces today. He isn’t ungenuine, he’s just a lovely laid-back fellow."
"Today’s trip is as far as he wants to go and we’ll try to find a little handicap with him next. If he didn’t win today, I thought he would never win a maiden.”
