Recently-married jockey Bill Lee returned with a winner at Dundalk today as he steered the Henry De Bromhead trained Flirting Bridge to win the Irish Stallion Farms EBF (Fillies) Maiden.
Flirting Bridge, a daughter of Camelot, was today making it third-time-lucky having stepped forward from runs at Punchestown and Leopardstown previously and today beat Split Decision by three parts of a length.
Lee, who married his fiancee Catriona last Saturday, stated “the draw wasn’t great but we made up our mind and bounced forward. I was comfortable the whole way. She picked up in the straight and again at the furlong pole.
“She’s a lovely filly who can go ten furlongs or twelve furlongs next year. She’s progressive and one to look forward to.”
Regarding Saturday's wedding, Lee added “it was unfortunate (with current restrictions) but we said we'd go ahead with getting married. It's going well and hopefully we can have a party somewhere down the line.”
