Mohawk snatched victory from the jaws of defeat to justify odds of 4/7 in the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden (Plus 10 Race) at Cork.
For Joseph O'Brien Eagle Song gave it a good go from the front in this seven furlong heat.
O'Brien's brother Donnacha was at work on Ballydoyle's Mohawk from some way out, and he eventually hit full stride to mow down Eagle Song late on for a three parts of a length win.
"He's still raw and still green but he's getting the hang of it. He's a nice horse going forward and he probably needs further," said the winning rider.
J.A. Heffernan, rider of Peach Tree trained by A.P.O'Brien, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran green.
