Ranger gains some Fairyhouse compensation
Christy Roche's Park Ranger made up for a costly failed gamble at The Curragh recently when winning the Porterstown Handicap at Fairyhouse today, to provide jockey Alan Crowe with an unusual (and somewhat useless) 'full set' of winners as a jockey.
Park Ranger, which was the subject of a morning and on-course gamble (backed into 9/4f) at the Curragh 15 days ago, stayed on well under a strong ride from Crowe to eventually record a three lengths win over Denny Crane
Afterwards Roche reported "I don't know what happened Park Ranger at The Curragh the last day but maybe he just wasn't good enough and appreciated the drop in class today - I've no plans from here as today was probably his Derby."
Crowe, on the other hand, has now partnered winners as a Flat apprentice, in point to points, bumpers, hurdles, chases and today his first as a fully fledged Flat jockey.
