Quick double for Martin as Psycho scores
The enigmatic Psycho bounced back to his best in the www.themaltonhotel.com Chase racing to an easy seven length victory, to record a quick double on the card for his trainer Tony Martin.
The 10yo winner of seven before today, was always travelling well and was barely asked a question by his rider Andrew McNamara as he raced away from his rivals after the last to score at the generous odds of 13/2. Aran Concerto ran his best race for a while to finish second at 5/1 with Schelm a further five and a half lengths back in third.
The short priced 11/10 favourite Apt Approach for Willie Mullins and Ruby Walsh had plenty to do when unseating at the third last.
Afterwards winning trainer Tony Martin said "If ever a horse deserved to win it was him. He is top class when things go right. I couldn’t be happier to see him win. He can be a bit hot headed at times but Andrew said he was a gent throughout the race.
"He is in again tomorrow (a 2m 4f hurdle) and I’ll see how he is before deciding whether to race or not. After that we have no plans."
