Declan Queally rode out his claim as The Getaway Star justified prohibitive odds when making all in division one of the Pallaskenry (Mares) Maiden Hurdle at Limerick.
Trained by Queally’s father and namesake, the dual bumper winner had previously picked up black type both in bumpers and over hurdles and was supported at cramped odds for this 2m3f event shortening up from 2/7 to 1/6 just before the off.
The six-year-old daughter of Getaway was given a very positive ride and took command from the penultimate flight to score by six and a half lengths. Annes A Rebel made a promising debut keeping on nicely after jumping into second at the last, with Roxanya the same distance further adrift in third.
Queally junior said, ""Her form was very good. She ran well behind Skyace and was second to Royal Kahala .
"She was then nearly brought down at Leopardstown and we decided to keep campaigning in the bigger races and wait for next season.
"She is still a novice and my claim is gone now - 16 years later!"
