Pure Action deservedly made the breakthrough on start ten, gaining a hard fought win in the Jockey & Trainer Championship Claiming Maiden.
A second winning favourite in as many races at Dundalk, the Gary Halpin ridden Pure Action (5/4) looked vulnerable to Smugglers Creek from over a furlong out.
They ended up down the centre of the track and John Feane's winner got home by three parts of a length in the end.
"He's been very consistent and it's grand to get his head in front," said Feane.
"He was only mugged the last day on the line so we gelded him after and gave him a little break. He's been running consistent all the time and he's not a bad horse.
"He stuck at it well. With all those places some people might question him but it's not that, it's just so competitive here and it's just good to find an opportunity. It was a good race for him to win.
"Jim (Browne, owner) bred him and had the whole family so it's nice for him."
The Stewards fined John James Feane, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Pure Action, in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91.
The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.
