You Can't Catch Me has been a tremendous servant to the Purcell family in Windgap County Kilkenny and today as a ten-year-old he added another string to his bow with a first win over fences in the Devil's Bit Beginners Chase.
The 14/1 victor is a real Clonmel specialist, but this afternoon, at another Premier County venue, Thurles, the J J Slevin-ridden You Can't Catch Me made the breakthrough at the fifth time of asking at the chasing game.
Favourite Stooshie pushed the Catcher In The Rye victor closest, and half a length split them at the finish.
"He's a right little horse but we we were away from Clonmel today!" said trainer Kieran Purcell.
"He needs fast ground and my horses are in great order. We'll tip away with him for the summer in novices and he could also go back hurdling and on the Flat too. We'll run in whatever comes up and suits once we get fast ground."
