- Princess gets off the mark
Princess gets off the mark
The Denis Cullen trained Newlands Princess landed a maiden victory in the Bulmers Live Handicap at Leopardstown this evening, denying Aidan O’Brien a treble on the day with his President Lincoln
Afterwards Cullen stated “it’s great to get a winner at Leopardstown and Newlands Princess is an improving mare and Leigh (Roche, winning rider) gave her a very good ride.”
He added “in fairness to Niall McCullagh (her previous rider), he always minds the horses he rides and looked after her the last day when it didn’t happen for her. We decided to take 5lbs off her back today and I’m delighted both for her and for myself as I own half!”
“Today was the plan – we were gearing towards the bigger tracks for her and she is for sale. She is a half-sister to the leading money earner in Saudi Arabia so hopefully we should be able to sell her.”
